DIY: Washi Tape Tea Lights

Hello, and welcome to the easiest DIY on the internet EVER! I am not a DIYer, or at least one who does it often. I used to do projects all of the time, but over the past few years it has tapered off. Speaking of tape [see what I did there??], today's DIY is all about my new favorite product: Washi Tape. I saw this project originally on Pinterest and knew I had to give it a go for myself.

All you need is a few tea light candles [mine are from Ikea] and your favorite Washi Tape. I do like the look of metallic tape for this project- but with all of the bright colors in our living room [we always have candles going], I knew something neon was the best choice.
First, carefully wrap the tape around the edge of the tea light. The Ikea ones are more shallow, so there will be an overlap of tape if you have those.
Then, carefully trim the tape. I am not very good at this part, as you can see in the below photo. BUT, the whole process is so quick it doesn't really matter *too much.* Plus, tea lights don't last for very long... so you can cover a BUNCH and swap them out. Once they're lit, you won't even notice the edges [if you're like me and don't know how to use scissors].
Then, enjoy! This tape coloring was very subtle- it was one of the details I'll enjoy but won't necessarily make a huge impact. With all of the tape options available, you can do something much more bold to fit the aesthetic of your decor.
So there you have it, the world's easiest and quickest DIY! Next time, I'll put my big girl pants on and we'll try something a little more intricate. ;)

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend! My best friend, Lindy, is coming to visit!!! When I made the move to SF, she headed north to Seattle... and it is has been nearly 4 months since we've seen each other which is absolutely heart breaking and also ridiculous so to say we're excited is a bit of an understatement!! We'll be heading all over the city, showing her my favorite spots and doing lots of best friend things. It is very safe to say I will not be blogging on Monday but that my Instagram account will be overwhelmingly active.

Have an amazing weekend!! :)
