Tim and I have spent so much time decorating, our apartment is really starting to feel like home. In that... "our home is so awesome we can hardly stand it" sort of way. We are taking a great deal of pride in this space, and with each coat of paint or new frame comes a lot of excitement. Since we're working SO hard to make it SO perfect, I can't show you everything just yet. Instead- here is just a little preview of what has been happening.

I hope you enjoy the long weekend... we have family coming to town and are planning on showcasing the BEST of the BAY- so tune in next week for a jam-packed "What a Weekend" post!

Guest Post: Trash to Trend

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a splendid Friday! Today I wanted to give Kelsey the floor to share her style. Be sure to give her blog some love!

Hello Leopard and Lavender readers, I'm Kelsey from Trash to Trend where I blog about outfits, DIY projects, and thrifty finds. Kelli sweetly agreed to let me share a little slice of my personal style with you all today, so I chose a bright and flowy chiffon dress and my favorite little blazer to dress it up a bit  for work and a mini date. :)  This outfit is so flowy and fun which is exactly how I love to keep my style. Thank you for reading, feel free to check out my blog and follow me if you'd like to!

I came across this pin and wanted a way to make it happen for myself. I went to my trusty collection of clothes and realized I had all the makings to bring it to life [my life]. While I'm missing the key factor- stripes- I think I make up for it with a nice substitute- polka dots. If I could have found some way to combine both, you know I would have. However, I will say... putting this outfit together was one of those moments that made all the hours I've wasted spent on Pinterest worth it.

WWL: Tangerine Dream

I know with fall rapidly approaching... I, as a fashion blogger, am supposed to write about burgundy and houndstooth and cognac colored boots and how excited I am for pumpkin spice lattes. But... I think this fall I want to focus on adding colors to an otherwise drab day-to-day. And since Pantone named the 2012 color of the year Tangerine Tango [which I learned from my friend @ A Bit of Sass], I think we should embrace tangerine right up until the END of 2012. I just don't think it is fair that hot summer months get all the brights.

You see, there are ways to for tangerine to tango right on into your closet- no matter the season. I am lusting after that dress paired with black tights and boots, and a big/bright carry-all that will fit every one of my worldly possessions?? LOVE IT. A scarf or necklace + an all-black ensemble is an easy way to break up the routine a little bit. OR, just some lipstick will do the trick. Either way, I think we all can agree to make it mandatory to stand against boring and welcome tangerine as many ways as possible while it is still the color of the year. Orange you glad I did this post??

*As a final note... those hair ties?? AMAZING. LIFE CHANGING. I received one as a sample in my Birchbox a few months ago, and have since ordered a couple packs. You can put your hair in a ponytail, braid, or bun... and it won't leave a kink or bend in the hair. Trust me. You need these.

Back to the Basics.

tee Urban Outfitters scarf Louis Vuitton denim Hudson shoes J.Crew [similar] watch Marc by Marc Jacobs sunnies Target ring Vintage

Here I am again, in another "back to the basics" type outfit. Like, just wearing what I want.... not really sure if it will work out. I just don't have the energy to pine over my Pinterest boards and stare at my closet until something magic happens. So, a white v-neck, classic dark-wash jeans, and some favorite accessories. Bam. Out the door, comfortable, you know, easy peasy lemon squeezy. Is that the saying?? Who can be sure. All we know is I am seriously boring in the outfit department these days, and I am seriously okay with that.

This outfit is... not my favorite. There was literally no thought put into the cohesiveness of it all, I actually just chose 4 items I wanted to wear- whether they went together or not. I chose the shirt because it is most like pajamas, without actually being pajamas. I chose the jacket because it is chilly and also just really cute. I chose the shoes because they have a little cushion in the soles and I like that. And the jeans? Because they are new and I adore them.

So why wouldn't I call this post "speed it up?" You know because that is what I did. I went in my closet and sped up the process by grabbing things, throwing them on, and heading out the door. WELL because I actually slowed down a bit and made things a little more simple. Instead of staring at the racks of clothes and feeling overwhelmed, I just went with it.

So did it work? [or did I blow it?]

WWL: Sneaks.

OKAY. I don't know what to do except just embrace it at this point. Sneakers have taken over my life. I knew I'd be walking a lot when I moved here- but I didn't realize how mad my feet would get! I have been LIVING in these, and occasionally peppering in some Converse or Michael Kors. Ballet flats are fine but I don't want to destroy my feet [or my pedicure]. I just want to find a way to wear sneakers every single day and yet still be stylish. I think I have found some solutions, which are now listed in this week's Wednesday Wish List:
1: Aldo  // 2: Miu Miu // 3: Ash
Studded sneakers are not for the weak of heart, or for those who trip over their own feet a lot. I think these all would be so cute with skinny jeans and a basic white top. After all, you don't want to wear every piece of bling you've got at the same time. That would be silly and also heavy.

1: Rebecca Taylor // 2: Marc by Marc Jacobs // 3: Isabel Marant
SO sorry, I am on the wedge sneaker train. I read a review online in which someone said it looked like an ugly basketball shoe had a baby with an Ugg and you know, be that as it may. I still love these. They look cute. That is all I really even have to say. OH except that these are definitely on my "wish list" only. I doubt I'll ever take the plunge. :)
1 // 2 // 3
No sneaker compilation would be complete without a shout out to Keds... let's all give them a round of applause for the killer comeback this season! I keep seeing these for sale everywhere and can't choose which pair will go best with my current closet. Though, who are we kidding... clearly the leopard.

What do you think? Are sneakers too casual for you- or would you rock these?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm obsessed with this song. It is so embarrassing to tell you that it just plays in my head all the time. Like, right now- you know how my desk is in the bay window? It is very, very likely that people on the street can see me dancing as we speak. And, if I am out and about and stop to take photos, and realize my camera is dead and we have to use an iPhone [as in the photos above], it doesn't matter because the song is stuck in my head and... it's always a good time you know what I mean? Actually I don't know what I mean so if you don't, that is fine too. Anyways, we headed down to Palo Alto this last weekend and this is what I wore. You know I love my jorts. AND these jorts are on sale PLUS an extra 30% off... just saying. They changed my life [by life I mean wardrobe] and they could do the very same for you.

What a Weekend.

Hi friends! Sorry for the late(r) post today!! I had a fun filled weekend and I guess it just poured over onto today... or the fog covered my calendar right up and I just forgot what day it was. TOUGH to say. Also, I did a little updating around here over the weekend- so check out my revamped "About L&L," "About Kelli," and "Style & More" pages. :) ONWARD with my post:

I got a new desk- SO exciting. This is right after we put it together in the living room. I think Leonard thought it was for him...

Grabbing a bevvie at Nopa before the Gap/Rue Magazine party. One of my favorite restaurants in the city so far!

Roxanne [and the desk] bright [foggy] and early on Saturday. Cute little thing.

I must have had a ton of good karma headed my way because I am sure lucky these days. Boyfriend brought me breakfast in bed with a sweet note. :)

Having a rainwater at Ozumo with good friends and new friends.

Cute little jars of treats at Chile Pies

I don't normally like pies... at all. But this one looked AMAZING. I'm going back this week for a slice :)

My two favorite things combined: brunch and nachos. Brunch nachos. Brunchos. Amazing. @ Luna Park.

Tim at MOMA. [San Francisco Museum of Modern Art]

ME at MOMA. We went for the Cindy Sherman exhibit. If you have a chance, I truly suggest going. It was amazing!

Thank you for stopping by- I hope you all had a perfect start to your week [and if you didn't... at least tomorrow is Tuesday]!!

So there is the CUTEST little French restaurant down the street from our apartment, and when Tim said we were having a date night there- I knew it was the perfect time to wear my new dress from Madewell. I initially styled it with this sweater over the top- but I wanted to be a little snazzier. A little... dazz...ier. Dazzle. I wanted to dazzle. Sigh I don't even know what I'm trying to say here but I CAN TELL YOU I love this outfit, despite the breeze that came a-blowin' when it was time to head to dinner. Also, I think it is time we change the name of this blog to "I wear this necklace from Target like, every single day." I know it isn't as catchy, but I think it will stick.
