Since I've been traveling quite a bit lately, I've amassed a few good tips and essentials. Here's what keeps me sane while 30,000 feet in the air:
cozy blanket to make things a little more tolerable.
SUNGLASSES: I am the obnoxious girl who wears sunglasses on an airplane. It helps shield my eyes if I need a nap and also, the whole "sunglasses indoors" thing works wonders if you don't feel like talking to your neighbors.
SWEATER: Same logic as a blanket. You want to be cozy as can be when you're stuck in a pleather chair and the person in front of you decides to recline their seat back. A sweater is a magical wardrobe choice when you're in this scenario and you'll look cute when you arrive at your destination.
A GOOD BOOK: If you're reading a good book [as in a book so good you forget where you are], the flight will just fly by. Pun intended, obviously.
SPARKLING WATER: I tend to get motion sickness, so a sparkling water comes in handy- especially when the fasten seatbelt sign is on or the flight attendants are too busy to bring you a ginger ale.
FACE MIST: You know that horrific dehydration situation that happens to your skin after a long flight? One spritz of this and problem solved!
BALLET FLATS: I get really anxious when it's finally my turn to get through security. Ballet flats are easy to take off quickly, but are still cute.
Other tips? Don't drink a lot of coffee before you board unless you want to use the teeny tiny lavatory and don't feel guilty when you get an Auntie Anne's pretzel immediately upon landing. After dealing with airports, you totally earned it.
