Bedroom.

bedding c/o Crane & Canopy // euro pillows West Elm // throw pillow West Elm [no longer available] // throw Nate Berkus for Linens N Things // rug Crate & Barrel // skull DIY // cat Roxanne

Welcome to our bedroom! [That's something I never thought I'd say to strangers on the Internet.] First and foremost, I must say- we are OB-SESSED with this Crane & Canopy bedding. To be perfectly honest- we used to have bedding that looked nearly identical from a different retailer and it was a huge disaster. The stitching would rip, the buttons broke off, and when we washed it- the material faded and became really rough. I was super frustrated because it wasn't a cheap purchase, either. When the cute package from Crane & Canopy finally arrived- I about died. The material is SO soft and luxurious and makes getting out of bed REALLY difficult. We haven't had any problems with tearing, and there is a zipper closure at the bottom- so the duvet doesn't get all bunchy. In a word, it's heavenly. I cannot recommend it enough.

Since I have a fairly shallow lens on my camera, I wasn't able to photograph the room in its entirety. BUT, here's the bedding which is the most important part. Also, I'm not skilled enough with the camera to show you that the white curtains in the background are actually polka dotted. THEY'RE THE BEST.

We're putting the finishing touches on the place. In the coming weeks, I'll finally be sharing not only the rest of the bedroom, but the rest of the apartment. Except for our bathroom, because it is 100 years old and cannot be helped.

Don't forget to enter the DITTO giveaway from yesterday! You have until March 6. Happy almost-Friday!

[NOW CLOSED] Sunglasses Giveaway with DITTO!

Today, I have a super exciting post. First, I am going to tell you about this rad new company- DITTO- and then, you have a chance to win a $250 gift certificate! YEP! Read on, friends:

SO, since moving to SF- shopping has been sort of a bust since I rely on public transportation to get around. Hauling everything home on a MUNI bus is the opposite of glamorous... it's horrifying. When I need a quick fashion-fix, I turn to my BFF the Internet. However, I think we can all agree that online shopping has one major downfall: you can't try stuff on! Clicking that coveted "order" button can be a bit nerve-wracking. Fortunately, DITTO exists to change all of that.

Using 3D video technology, you can actually try on sunglasses [or regular eyeglasses] from the comfort of your computer! Confused?? Watch this video. By recording your face through your webcam, you're able to see yourself in different sunglasses and choose a favorite. You can also send it to your friends to get a second opinion. Umm... technology is amazing, no?? I had a blast trying on nearly every pair of glasses they had- especially since they have big names like Chlo√©, Illesteva, Elizabeth and James, and Ray-Ban. I am loving this pair [LOU LOU] by Phillip Lim:

I've already planned a whole new outfit to go with them:
NOW, since DITTO is the best, they're giving ONE lucky Leopard and Lavender reader a $250 gift certificate to pick out their own pair! Here's how to enter:

1. You must be a follower of Leopard and Lavender. Click "Join this Site" on the right hand sidebar.

2. Next, create your own DITTO, and find your favorite pair of glasses by virtually trying them on!

3. Then, share on one [or more!] of the following social platforms. For every spot you share, you earn an entry.

For FACEBOOK: Share to Facebook by clicking the link directly on DITTO’s site. Tag BOTH Leopard and Lavender as well as DITTO in the photo.
For INSTAGRAM: Take a picture of your DITTO and post to Instagram. Tag both @shopditto and @kelliryder.
For TWITTERTake a picture of your DITTO and share on Twitter. Tag both @shopditto and @kelliryder.

Be sure to like/follow both myself & DITTO on whichever media you share on! Leave a comment below letting me know where you shared + your choice of glasses. A winner will be chosen next Wednesday, March 6.

Good luck!

UNPLUGGED.

I'm keeping things short today. Tomorrow is Tim's 30th birthday, and we're off on an adventure. As a present [to him or to myself??], I am completely unplugging from work, blogging, social media, and TECHNOLOGY until Monday. Truth be told, I may sneak one or two Instagrams in there but only because I'll be snapping lots of photos.

Thank you for your patience as I know my posts were basically nonexistent this week. I will be back Monday, entirely refreshed, and ready to hit the ground running.

Wishing you a simple & sweet weekend ahead.

Rockstar.

sunnies Nordstrom // jacket Pins and Needles // blouse Anthropologie // necklace Forever21 // pants Genetic Denim // booties Kelsi Dagger

Some days, I get out of bed and decide to dress like a rockstar. Never mind the fact that as I got ready, I was listening to old school Backstreet Boys. If anyone asks, tell them I listen to Van Halen- mmk? ANYWAYS, my leather jacket is ON SALE [hello!] and is actually VEGAN leather which is the new way people are saying pleather. It is like how people call burgundy "oxblood" but I find it much less offensive

I bought these boots and fully intended to make them much more feminine. I pictured them paired with dainty cream-colored dresses or an emerald blouse or maybe a grey striped sweater. Yet every time they find their way onto my feet, the all-black comes out and I decide to be a little bit tough.

The use of the word "tough" is obviously hilarious as 10 minutes after these photos were snapped, I had a near meltdown because I was SO hungry and nachos were a full 8 blocks away. Sigh, one tough rockstar indeed.

Valentine's Day!

coat Vintage // top Gap // denim Current/Elliott // shoes C-Label // bag Urban Outfitters // sunnies Nordstrom

I rarely do "themed" posts, but my favorite holiday is probably Valentine's Day. I don't care if it's a Hallmark Holiday, and I do think it's more important to show love and do special things every day of the year. HAVING SAID THAT... who doesn't love an excuse to go over the top with love?! Whether you're telling your friends and family how much you adore them, snuggling extra with your pets [today is actually mine and Roxy's 6th anniversary], or heading out to a romantic dinner with your significant other... it is a wonderfully joyful day.

I chose this top because it looks like hearts, which apples sometimes do. And it's happy. And so here we have my first themed post.

ALSO, how handsome is MY Valentine?!? When I particularly love his outfit, he falls victim to an outfit post of his own. He's wearing Hudson boots, Theory denim, and a vintage plaid shirt. And I love him.

Though can we agree it is kind of weird we didn't make this list of stylish SF couples? SIGH, we'll get them next year. ;)

Wishing you a very, very Happy Valentine's Day!!

Views.

HELLO and welcome to a sleep-deprived-likely-full-of-typos midnight post! I went MIA for a few days, yes? Where have I been?
Monday I was looking at the gorgeous San Francisco skyline, and Tuesday? Gazing out of my hotel window at unbelievable Lake Tahoe.

On Monday, I was invited to the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe for work. As in, Monday I got the exciting news, Tuesday I was on the road. Listen, when you're asked if you want to go to The Ritz and you need to leave the next day- you don't ask questions... you pack a bag and you go.

SO, I've been indulging in a faux-reality and loving every second of it. Massage at the spa, incredible meals, and a first look at penthouses designed by Jay Jeffers. And when I had a little free time... I was given the option of updating my blog or going back to the spa. Sorry guys, no brainer.

HOWEVER, I couldn't vanish forever. So I thought I'd share two of my FAVORITE Instagram photos I've ever snapped, taken a day apart, at two of my favorite places in the world.

I tell you, life is a pretty wonderful surprise sometimes.

Now to turn out the lights and enjoy my last night of luxury before reality [and missing Tim] beckons me home. I'll be back at a reasonable hour with a very special Valentine's post.

What a Weekend.

HELLO and Happy Monday!! I hope you had a great weekend, and that Monday isn't making you want to die... as it sometimes can do. PS- HELLO, Valentine's Day anyone? That came out of nowhere, it feels like New Years was yesterday! V-day can be a touchy subject, so I'm totally on board with learning all the dos and don'ts of the Hallmark Holiday. Rue has you covered if you're concerned.

Anyways, this weekend was pretty low key for us- which was so nice. Here is a little peek:

As you may have seen on Instagram, we got a new rug!! It has made for the perfect sunning spot for Lenny. Look at how smug he is.

We stopped into Rare Device after brunching at Nopa. I'm in love with these recipe cards. Usually when I cook, my iPad is propped up with a Pinterest recipe [and also something is burning or getting dropped on the floor]. I think it'd be fun to revert back to hand written recipes instead.

RD is also ready for Valentine's! My favorite card is the one in the center.

Stopped into San Franpscycho to see what other sweatshirts they have. I've literally been LIVING in mine. I didn't find a new sweatshirt, but almost scooped up one of these beanies to disguise my bad hair days!

Found a few Koi fish outside.

We went to H.D. Buttercup to find inspiration for the remainder of our dining room. Now that we have the rug, we need a chandelier!

I was pretty into this one... even with its lack of sparkles.

Ended the weekend as we started it, wandering around the neighborhood. I'll never get sick of SF architecture.

As much as I'd love to stay and chat [blog] all day, back to work I go. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Robbed.

top Stolen from Tim (that isn't a brand, I stole it from Tim's closet) // pants H&M // shoes J.Crew // sunnies Nordstrom

I have developed a nasty weekend habit. I wake up, grab my coffee, and instead of heading to my own closet, I head to Tim's. As evidenced today AND in this post, I can't stop stealing his denim shirts! I prefer the length and also the comfort level. Poor guy, he keeps going to grab one of his favorite shirts and I'm all ready to head out the door... in the shirt. SO to remedy this, I am on the hunt for LADIES denim shirts that are sort of long [my Old Navy ones are way too short and boxy], super comfortable [also my Old Navy ones feel like sandpaper], and will be better than me wearing my boyfriend's clothes. If you have any ideas- PUHlease leave them in the comments.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Rue Shops Boise pt.2

hat Target // overcoat Michael Kors // leather jacket Pins and Needles (on SALE!) // tee H&M, similar // jeans AG // shoes C-Label

As promised, here are some other favorites from the Rue Shops Boise shoot with Sara K. Byrne. I wrote "other favorites" but what I meant was "photos of myself." If you're going to keep reading this blog, we'll need to keep an open relationship you know? And so if I'm being open: I was really excited to have gotten my hair and makeup done, and I was really excited to have professional photographers working their magic. I definitely don't look like this every day. For example, as I type this- I am wearing the same San Franpsycho sweatshirt I wore for the Super Bowl and I have pajama pants with cats on them. I call them "Cat Pajamas." Anyone who knows me in real life has seen Cat Pajamas more than once.

Luckily, occasions like Rue Shops Boise come up and I'm forced out of Cat Pajamas and into something somewhat fashionable. I sort of planned ahead what I'd be wearing, but not 100%. When it came time to get ready for the shoot, I was in a bit of a scramble as I was living out of a suitcase. But, I am really pleased with how everything turned out. The hat was a last minute addition- it was like 7 degrees. Ok, it was in the 30s. But it felt like 7.

Again, major thank you to Deseree for making me look pretty, and to Sara K. Byrne Photography for also making me look pretty. :)

Rue Shops BOISE!

As I told you yesterday, I did an AMAZING feature with Rue Magazine for the Feb/March issue. If you haven't seen it, I took Rue to my hometown of Boise, ID for tour of my favorite shopping spots. I am not going to play it down or act like I'm way too cool... this was literally a DREAM COME TRUE. I am so grateful to be working for Rue, and to be able to show where I'm from was really special.

I started the day with my savior, Deseree. If you're in the Boise area, she NEEDS to be in charge of your hair and makeup. NEED. She is so talented, and makes me feel pretty. Which is nice of her, and very important to me. The whole purpose of a stylist is to make you feel good about yourself, and Deseree is an expert at just that.

THEN, I met up with the duo behind Sara K Byrne Photography, Sara and her fianc√© Dylan. They are SO talented, and working with them was a breeze. I can't wait to partner on future projects! We went around to the shops I frequented while I was still a Boise girl. For the reasons I LOVE these spots, you'll have to read the Rue story. Here are a few favorite photos from each location:

Since I am vain and also this is a fashion-based blog, I'll be back tomorrow with a few of my favorite portraits AND my outfit details!

Major MAJOR  thank you to Deseree, Sara K Byrne Photography, and Rue Magazine for letting me produce this feature!

Sunday Morning [continued].

I normally don't post twice a day, but sometimes... you have all these posts planned out and if you don't get them up they'll just be old news. AND I hate old news. SO, in continuation of my What a Weekend, here are the details of our Sunday:

headband Nordstrom // sunnies Nordstrom // scarf Anthropologie // top H&M // denim Gap [100 years ago. Here's something similar.] // shoes Lauren Conrad for Kohls [similar.] // nail polish OPI Strawberry Margarita // coffee shop Flywheel

Weekends were meant for ripped jeans, your favorite shoes and scarf, and chai lattes. And OH, how I love the chai latte part. There were more photos of it than of my outfit. Priorities, people.
