LOVING: Nicole Guice

Since Tim and I started dating, I've spent a lot of time learning about art, going to shows, and to be perfectly candid- pretending I know what's going on or what I'm looking at. My family is very creative and I was always encouraged to explore different kinds of art, so I do feel a sense of comfort in his world. But at the same time, I'm certainly aware that I can feel pretty lost. That's why I was so thrilled when, through Tim's Instagram, I came into contact with Nicole Guice- an illustrator living in LA.

These days, it seems fashion illustrators are a dime a dozen… but Nicole's work truly stands out. She draws inspiration from the latest runways, but not necessarily the over-Instagrammed mainstream shows that clog up our feeds each February and September [sorry girls… but you know what I mean]. She has a great eye for the teeny tiny details that define a look- from crystal embroidery to bold brows. And she doesn't just pull inspiration from the runways, either. I'm totally taken by her street style inspired sketches as well.

Whether you check out her blog, Instagram, or pick up a print of your own- Nicole is definitely a favorite to follow.

Baby Shower

dress // moccasins // one piece // stretch mark oil // face wash // onesie // blankie // doll

These days, my social calendar is filling up with baby showers. Believe it or not, this is VERY exciting for me. While the idea of having my own children is a LONG ways off… I really love shopping for little tiny clothes and accessories. And even better… I love shopping for little tiny GIRL clothes and accessories. Everything is so darling and small and soft... and did I say darling??

While doing some online shower shopping, I stumbled across so many cute finds I couldn't help but share them here. Right now, Gap Baby is bursting with adorable dresses and onesies. And for mama? Belli Skincare is a total lifesaver. My girlfriends have all expressed frustration with their hormonal skin, yet traditional acne treatments are off limits. Belli Skincare is effective for battling hormonal acne, but doesn't include any harsh chemicals that may be bad for baby. AND girls let's be honest. I've used the face wash even though I'm NOT expecting, and I love it. Lastly, how sweet is this Jess Brown doll? Needless to say, my friends AND their baby girls are going to be some spoiled little ladies.

Now, if only I could convince everyone that "Kelli" is 2014's hottest new name for little girls...

Blush by Jamie Rose

I really love living in San Francisco, but do miss the charm of my hometown. Boise, ID is really up & coming, with new restaurants and shops popping up all the time. [Remember when I gave Rue a tour of all the best spots??] Since then- my dream shop has opened its doors.

Blush by Jamie Rose is Boise's first beauty boutique, carrying luxury cosmetics, skincare, body care, candles, and fragrances. You all know I'm a skincare addict, and it totally pains me I'm not able to spend ALL of my money here. Owned by the beautiful Jamie Verner, this shop's interior is as fabulous as the products. Think luxe glamour meets shabby chic:

Jamie also offers makeup artistry for bridal, print, TV/film, and special occasions. Actually, the first time I met Jamie- she did my makeup and let's be honest guys, I've never looked better.

GUYS: I can guarantee that if you've forgotten Valentine's Day [hint: tomorrow!!], you'll find the perfect gift here. And girls: it's basically a dream, no?

I've yet to make a visit, it's at the TOP of my list the next time I head back. And for those of us not in Boise, be sure to follow along on FacebookInstagram:

Attitude.

I shared this image on Instagram last week, and wanted to write about it [complain about it] here. It is just something that has really been getting on my nerves lately. So many people spend their time expressing how much they "hate" something… jobs, their apartments, hipsters, prepsters, the Kardashians, broccoli, Vampire Weekend, the rain, mason jars, other bloggers or websites, the cost of rent or gas or groceries or the president… The list goes on. It's seems to be so much EASIER to bash something to bits than to be passionate about something positive. Maybe it's because it's "safer" to hate something. What's that old adage…. the quickest way to become someone's friend is to bond over a mutual dislike? I think that's a real cop out.

I guess I've been more aware of this feeling because I'm super sensitive to negative energy. I know, I know… that's basically hippie talk. But seriously! I feel like I absorb negative energy like a sponge and if I'm not careful, I let it drag me down and ruin my own day. Because of this, I am hyper-aware of people who spend their time promoting their DISLIKES instead of nurturing what they LOVE. And to be honest, there is nothing I find LESS INTERESTING than telling me what you think is just THE WORST. I want to know what drives people, what excites them, and what strengthens their creativity.

When you focus on the things and people that you hate, you are not allowing the things you love to thrive. Whether it's judging, comparing, or resenting others, focusing on terrible customer service and bashing businesses, or just letting that stress-wheel spin in your mind for hours, you're essentially allowing yourself to become your own worst enemy. I think that we'd all be better suited to follow the quote… promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.

SO, on that note… here are a few things I'm LOVING these days:

     -Plaid.
     -Oversized sweaters.
     -Tacolicious.
     -Tory Burch Fall 2014 RTW.
-When my friend Tina updates her blog, east.love.west.
     -My cat Roxanne.
-The Small Spaces issue of Rue Magazine.
     -This San Francisco home.
     -Ban.do's Pinterest page.
-These feminine & flirty wine glasses.
-This book about the "fair that changed America."
     -Katy Perry.
     -Cute stationery.
     -Tulum, Mexico.

Now it's your turn. What are YOU loving most?

LOVING: Sunny Day Supplies & Co.

cuff // foxy card // dope card // bottle opener

I love finding small shops that carry unique products you can't won't find anywhere else. This week, that means Sunny Day Supplies & Co. The husband & wife duo behind this adorable paper goods & accessories company makes everything right here in San Francisco. With cute, sassy cards & fun party goods, they're bringing a little bit of sunshine with every product they create. But even cooler… they have stuff that is truly 100% unique. Like the arrowed feather cuff- it's a golden mylar bracelet [you know, like mylar balloons] that is digitally diecut. It feels like it shouldn't even stay on your wrist but it magically does and it looks awesome while doing it. I've never seen any jewelry made that way. AND… the bottle opener is 3D printed matte gold stainless steel… which according to their website means "a special 3D printer deposits small drops of glue onto layers of stainless steel powder, one layer at a time. So that's wild. And so cool!

Be sure to check out all that Sunny Day Supplies & Co. offers, and happy shopping!

February 14 Gift Guide

Shave Kit // Cologne // Monogrammed iPad Case // Bamboo Sunglasses // Socks // Coasters

I remember when an appropriate Valentine was a [handmade] bejeweled frame with a photo from the Homecoming dance & a copy of American Pie 2 on DVD. These days, February 14 calls for something slightly more sophisticated. I put together a few gifts [from $ to $$$] that are Cupid-approved. A shave set [like this one from Van Der Hagen] will add a cool-factor to their morning routine, and I LOVE the scent of this cologne [it's handmade in New York!!]. I got Tim this monogrammed iPad case from Mark & Graham last Christmas, and it was a hit- he still uses it. For the stylish guy who has everything, these bamboo sunglasses will be a welcomed surprise come February 14. What guy doesn't want an accessory that none of his buddies have yet?? And if you're on a budget [or in a new relationship], something small & sweet like trendy socks or unique coasters will show you care without going overboard.

PS… Don't forget to enter the Whole Foods Giveaway to make YOUR Valentine's Day extra sweet!

Snowball

This white coat has been my favorite part of winter. I love throwing it on over something slightly less glam for an instant game changer. In fact, the first time I wore it, Tim said "my lady is so FANCY."

Since I am a terrible blogger and didn't post this in time… and it has sold out... I thought I'd share a few of my favorite white coats for all different budgets. Bonus points- a majority are on sale due to the "end" of the season. Happy Shopping:
