Work It Out (@ OnPointe!)

I have always (and I mean ALWAYS) wanted to try out pilates. I always walk by really cute studios and think to myself, "I'm going to go there someday." But, as much as I'm intrigued by the practice, I've had a lot of bad/weird experiences with fitness. Basically, I've avoided the gym for 3 YEARS because of encounters with so many fitness-obsessed weirdos that live and breath by pre-workout supplements and a steady diet of brown rice and chicken - and shame anyone who enjoys a pizza AND a margarita AT THE SAME TIME. (#Yum.)

That's not to say I don't like fitness or exercise. I actually have been working out a TON leading up to the wedding and - believe it or not - look forward to it every day. However, I've kept it a pretty personal journey. (Yep. You CAN work out and not tell anyone about it, despite what Instagram says.) I have been doing tons of at-home workouts and running in the park. But, I knew I needed to step up my game and still had that curiosity about trying out a local studio.

Needless to say, I was thrilled when I heard about OnPointe Traning in the Marina. It was founded by the beyond-adorable Kaitlyn Rhoades, a former ballerina from Nashville. OnPointe offers group pilates classes (with only 4 people per class) or private training sessions. I visited the studio for a private session with Kaitlyn, which is honestly the only way you could have gotten me in the door. While I've been SO interested in trying pilates, that huge-ass machine scared the heck out of me.

I arrived and was comfortable right off the bat. Kaitlyn is super sweet and non-judgy. AKA exactly how a trainer should be. We did a fitness assessment before doing anything on the machine, and then the workout was catered to my goals - both fitness and some back pain I'd been dealing with.

And, it was SO much fun. The machine was really interesting/not what I expected, and though it was difficult, it was a fun challenge and basically my favorite workout I've EVER done. Here are a few photos of the studio - and FYI, no, that's not me. I'm not the rockstar model.

But for the sake of honesty, here's something pretty hilarious. While I don't look that awesome, and it's not that flattering, it was the MOST fun. I'm officially a pilates convert.

If you're not in SF, you can still get training from Kaitlyn in the form of online videos. (Lucky ducks.) If you are, I highly suggest checking out the studio here.

*OnPointe offered me a complimentary class, but the opinions are 100% my own. As in, you need to go to this studio immediately.

  1. On the other hand, I've kept it an attractive personal journey. You Perform out and not tell anyone over it, despite what Instagram affirms.I have been doing plenty of at-home workouts and running inside park
